Prohibited Goods 

The goods that the government prohibits cannot be imported & exported in Qatar due to legal restrictions. The prohibited goods that are banned under the Qatar provisions of the common customs law for GCC states are mentioned below:

The following items are not allowed to be imported into Qatar by a person or as baggage according to Qatar customs law without any Government permission:

Narcotics and Drugs

All types of drugs and narcotics are banned and not allowed while travelling to Qatar on the flight. The government is very strict about the import of narcotics and drugs. You cannot import any drugs like cocaine, heroin, cannabis, opiates, or marijuana.

Weapons and Explosives

Explosives or all types of weapons are not allowed to be imported and also they are banned in Qatar. You must have permission from the Ministry of Defense Qatar to import weapons. This is the only way you can import weapons under special circumstances. 

Meat & Pork Products

You cannot take pork & meat to Qatar on the flight because Qatar follows the rules of Islam strictly. In Islam, pork is haram so you cannot take it to Qatar on a flight but you can get meat from a licensed dealer in Qatar.

Alcoholic Beverages

Qatar is an Islamic country that runs the country on Islamic rules as well. Alcoholic products are considered haram in Islam so you can not import or bring alcohol on a flight. However, you can buy it from an authorized dealer who has a QDC permit.

Restricted Goods

In Qatar, “restricted goods” are the items that can be imported or exported with some specific permissions, and in most cases, the traveller should obtain a permit for that good to import or export or to take on the flight. The goods that are restricted under the Qatar provision and Common Customs Law for GCC are mentioned below:

The following items are restricted by the government by Qatar customs to take on flight, and you have to get a permit or authorized permission to import them:

 Electric Items

The use of personal electric items like mobiles, laptops, photo cameras, video cameras, and other electric items is allowed for personal use not for commercial use. However, items with advanced communication features might require additional clearance and permissions.

Cigarettes and Tobacco items

The maximum amount of cigarettes allowed to be imported is 400 for adults, or it can be replaced with 40 cigars, 300 grams of chopped tobacco for pipes, 500 grams of raw tobacco, or 2 kilos of hookah tobacco. Keep in mind that the price value of these items does not exceed QAR 3,000, and to exceed the limit, you may need a government letter or permission. 

Gifts and Personal items

You can import personal items and gifts that have a value of less than QAR 3,000. The gifts or personal items are non-commercial and for personal use only, but if you want to take commercial items, you must have authorized permission from airport management.

Important Medicines

Medicine is the most essential thing for any person, and some people import it to Qatar on flights. The Qatari government allows to take medicine on flight, but in limited quantity if it is not for any commercial use. You have to keep in mind that it does not contain any banned products like drugs. It is good to take a doctor’s prescription.

 Importing Pets

Qatar allows travelers to import pets, but some breeds are banned in Qatar, so you can only import the pets that are legal in Qatar. If you want to import restricted pets, you have to get a license or permission to import them. The pet you are importing must be vaccinated, and the vaccination is up-to-date. The rabies vaccine is compulsory.
